In 2016 we decided to provide free education for around 340 children from a village in India. With classes from 1-8, this year our “first” class was able to graduate from Semuhi School in March. n a partnership with Care & Fair we are able to give the children and their families an opportunity to set a cornerstone for an occupational career, success and a better life.
In addition, through the Women Empowerment Program, 20-30 young women have the opportunity to sew clothes and accessories for their needs on the school grounds voluntarily and at no cost to themselves, as well as to sew the children’s school uniforms. Since 1994, Care & Fair – Teppichhandel gegen Kinderarbeit e.V. has been committed to helping the children of rug weavers in Nepal, Pakistan and India, along with their families. This includes school education, health care, and adult education. Care & Fair now works with exporting and importing members from over 24 countries, who finance the projects with their levies and donations.
The main objectives of Care & Fair include: – Abolition of child labour in India and Pakistan – The creation of better living conditions for carpet knotting families – Socially acceptable production – Care & Fair members only accept goods produced at socially acceptable conditions – Setting an example, doing its bit in trying to make the world a better place on a localised level
